Manisha Aryal
Manisha Aryal has over a decade of experience strengthening the capacity of local media in developing countries. Her expertise includes design and implementation of media development programs in conflict and post-conflict countries; and conceptualization and development of vibrant and sustainable local media programs.
Over the past decade years, she has worked all over South and Southeast Asia, and in the past 8 years primarily in Pakistan and Nepal. In Pakistan, Manisha rolled out the USAID/OTI funded multi-year media development project focusing on the northwest Pakistan that worked with universities, local media outlets and journalism associations. Previous to that, she was the Resident Journalism Advisor and lead trainer on a Department of State (DRL) supported project that trained journalists from Pakistan to report on human rights and rule of law issues.
Prior to joining Internews, she headed Antenna Foundation, a non-profit organization that produced public service programs for local television and FM radio stations in Nepal. She has also reported from South Asia for a range of radio programs, including those produced by NPR, PRI and the BBC. Manisha has a Masters degree in Journalism from the University of California, Berkeley.
